The first open road walk took place in 2007 and was known as the Seven Stations Challenge, it started at Port Erin Fire Station and visited each of the Islands fire stations along the arduous route finally finishing at Douglas Fire Station.
In 2009, the event route was changed to start at Peel Fire Station and finish at Ramsey Fire Station covering a measured 50km distance. it was renamed the Sara Killey Walk in memory of a close colleague who had sadly passed away.
The event continues to be supported by many of the Island’s enthusiasts and is used by some competitors as preparation for the Parish Walk.
The proceeds of each event have raised funds for the Firefighters Charity which provides assistance to serving firefighters, retired firefighters and their
2015 saw the event renamed as the FireFighters Memorial Walk, which it has been known as since.
